So sorry，since my last update on 31 July, I have been disappeared from blogging for an half month. Well, be honest I'm not really busy, just not in mood to blog, or may be more precise is that I'm out of idea on what to blog lately. I have been thinking and make a hard decision if I should just let amei79.blogspot.com to be a dead blog?

I just finish read a book, "The Secret" by Rhonda Bryne last week. This book is recommended by many people, that why I have managed to buy one in March 08. Well, if never read this book, I will never know that the secret mentioned in this book is all about "The Laws of Attraction" (吸引力法则）, which I have heard bout it quite some time ago.

How true is the "Laws of Attraction" in playing a role in determining our fate and life? I'm not really sure, but I can't deny that this "secret" sometime does work, for an example sometime we are thinking of and just mentioned some one's name who we have lost contact for a long time, and what a coincidence, we have meet him or her just within a short moment! Have you experienced this before?

My words toward this book, "The Secret":
1. "The Laws of Attraction" is actually all about to encourage us to think positively instead of negatively. I think this is the only lesson I learnt from this book as "positive thinking" is the only point mentioned in all chapters repeatedly.
2. For me, it seem like teach us to be "day-dreaming" what we wanted and what we wishing for all the time; because of in the book, the author asked us to keep thinking on the thing(s) we dream for, and try to imagine that we have already achieved that particular thing(s), the universe will receive our strong signal & desire on that thing(s) and it will make us dream (wish) come true sooner or later. Any action or effort required instead of just thinking? Not mentioned in the book at all, so it seem quite misleading.

Phuket Island Trip (1)

As mentioned in the previous post, we (Me, Fern, SChee & Lucy) have planned this Phuket Island Traveling Trip since early of March 08. Finally the days have come and we success to make our first oversea traveling trip on 12 - 17 July 08.

We took 9:50P.M AirAsia flight from Miri to LCCT on 12/7, and reached LCCT at around 00:00A.M. We later took a taxi from LCCT to Lucy's sister house, which located in Puchong area. Ya, we managed to stay over night at her house before we proceed our trip to Phuket Island the next day afternoon.

Well, even though that time already is midnight 1:00A.M, but not the time go to bed yet, the host brought us four person went to the nearby 24 hour mamak stall to have the late supper. We ordered “teh tarik”, “roti pisang” & nasik lemak. All these foods are good tasting & delicious. While enjoying the meals, the host shared with us their good time & experiences in Phuket Island not long ago; they highlighted & recommended us things that we must have a look & try there.

We slept at 3:00A.M. In the morning (10:00A.M) Lucy's sister drove us to the LCCT to catch the AirAsia flight to Phuket Island. Before leaving the house, we 4 travelers (from left: amei79, Fern, SChee & Lucy) not forget to took a group photo in front of the house. a

As it was 1:50P.M flight, so after checked in the luggage, we still have time to walk & look around in the LCCT shop departments. Of course, needless to say, the book corners always can easily get my attention. I'm interested in a book (Rich Dad Poor Dad series) wrote by Robert T. Kiyosaki, "Increase Your Financial IQ"! [ Surely I'll buy one when get back to Miri. Ya, I just search it at Popular Book Store yesterday night, but didn't see this book on the rack ]

I have read roughly 10 pages of the book contents, below are part of the contents that I managed to digest in very short time:
1. Money problem of the poor dad is not enough money; money problem of the rich dad is too much money. (the author did list down the money problems faced by both rich & poor dad).
2. If you solve money problem, your financial IQ grows, when your financial IQ grows, you become richer; if you do not solve your money problem, you become poorer, the problem often grows into more problems.

[ My words: to get rich, we must first solve the money problem of poor to get ourselves out of the poor; and once get rich, we have another challenge, is to solve the money problem of rich to become rich forever, or get even richer til we are finally achieve the financial freedom. Then, to solve the money problem of poor and to solve the money problem of rich, which one is easier? I think it would be equally easy or difficult once we have success to "top-up" our financial IQ slowly in the money problem solving learning process! ]

Just Can't Withstand Temptation of Buying Books

Another book exhibition in Miri, this time is held in E-mart Complex, by a book store from KL, named A.S. Books Centre (民族文化书坊）. Of course I'll never miss any book exhibition & can never withstand temptation of buying books because of other than online resources, books are my another main source of knowledges & learning tool. As what Willson Lim (Mentor of Money & You) said "If You Stop Learning, You Will Become An Illiterate of Modern Time" (若你停止学习，将会成为现代文盲）! So it is important to keep learning all the time to have some upgrade on our knowledges, thinking, mindset & etc in all fields.

I wonder why whenever there is a book exhibition by any of the book stores, normally most of the books displayed are the pirated books. Of course the 3 books I bought also the pirated one. Even though I knew that as a good consumer, buying a pirated book or other pirated stuffs like CD, VCD & etc is not a good practice, but I just can't resist to not do so, as it is too cheap compared to the original one. E.g the pirated book - "The Secret" was sold at RM15 only, while the original one is at RM79.90 (English version) & RM37.50 (Chinese version).

Although the printing quaility of the pirated books may not as nice or presentative as the original one, but as a reader, what we wanted is just the contents or knowledges hiden in the books, not the printing quality, somemore the money saved can be spent to buy more books knowledges (or other stuffs), then why not? So please don't blame on buying the pirated books.

Chinese Books Exhibition

Yesterday lunch time (after lunch), I went to have a look at a small scale Chinese Book Exhibition, which was held at the ground floor of the Miri Library. The exhibitor is “Du Yi Book Store” (读意书局), a book store from KL.

Needless to say, my target always more on the books of management, business, commercial, financial & motivation categories. My eyes keep on looking here and there to search for my favour books…Yeah~~~ just a very short moment…I found it! Yes, again, the books written by Wilson Lim were in my eye sight!

This short visit at the book exhibition spent me RM136.00. I bought 5 books, err…should be 4, as buy 4 free 1 (from the 5 books selected, the one with cheapest price as a free book). Below are the books I bought:

Wilson Lim had a talk on this topic somewhere around May 07 in Miri Boulevard Restaurant, I & Fern were there with him. Between he is having the 1st “Money & You” course with Miri citizen & Bruneian (also participants from other divisions) in East-Wood Valley Golf Club, which cost RM3, 000. (if not mistaken).

I spent quite lots of money on buying books in year 2007. I don’t mind, as long as I learn & gain new & extra knowledge which is not in my professional field; some more Pak Lah has announced early of year 07 that income tax payers can enjoy the income tax deduction up to RM1,000 a year (if not mistaken) for the purpose of buying books, magazines & other reading materials! Fern bought a Mandarin book quite sometime ago (half year ago if not mistaken), but till now she haven't finish read it yet, as she has gave up after read not more than 1/4 of the chapters. The book title is 《坏女人，有人爱》(Why Men Love Bitches), by 飘著细雪. In the 1st chapter, there is a quote from Mark Twain.

A stuff which easy our eyes, everybody will gonna love it & will try to grab one for him (her) self. The problem is the stuff sometime isn't be good, just because of everyone has got one, we don't wanna left behind, wanna get one too. We later be so regretful as that stuff suits other people, but may not suit us; or we later worry, as so many people have it (e.g. a dress), is it possible some one may dressed like us in a ballroom? How awkwardness would it be?

In the opposition, a stuff that no body like, no matter how good is it, normally very unlikely we will like it too...as we don't want to be out of the ordinary & looked weird into others eyes. We worry other people might sneer on us, what an idiot who owned a "rubbish" that no body like? Or what a fool who not in the trend?

This is the reality, that we sometime care too much on other people perspective on us, until we lost our freedom in chasing our own dream(s). We should be what we want to be & live our very own lifestyle, we have no good reason to change neither our life concepts nor lifestyle in order to entertain other person. As far as we do not deviate from the norm of a society, we have no point to bother about the criticism from the outsiders! Im who I am!

不要误解，以为只有企业管理者才要做决策；其实我们在日常生活中，也经常要做一些决策，也就是所谓的抉择或选择。有的可能只是芝麻小事，有的则可能影响深远，牵涉到我们的未来和前途！

我想很多人也像我一样，在念着FORM 5 (中五)，还未考SPM时，就已开始为毕业后的事情做打算了吧？因为毕业后，有很多选择在等着我们，即继续念FORM 6 （STPM）、念大专(University)或私人学院(Collegge)、或踏入社会工作等。

而我SPM毕业后，没能得到父母的鼓励，因为他们认为我是时候踏入社会工作赚钱了。庆幸的是那时我每逢假期就PART TIME（这也是是个正确的选择，不然呆在家里游手好闲，可能就会影响之后的抉择...）加上我很节俭，所以有几分臭钱和几分的能耐，在为加重家里的负担下顺利选择了自供自给地继续读书〔STPM〕。很快的FORM 6就毕业了，又面对了同样的问题，但情况不同了，因为STPM较忙无法PART TIME，只有限量了储蓄啊！还好有PTPTN，就向政府贷了款，当然一样没给家里带来任何负担嘛，所以再次顺利选择了去USM报到！

3年的大学课程很快就结束了，如今踏入社会工作了将近3年半的时间，一直以来都觉得自己之前的选择是无患的，但回头一望，天！未来钱我花了将近RM24，000（PTPTN，如今只偿还了RM3，000），加上卡债（没妥当的控制刷卡是理财方面的错误选择），还欠债RM25，000左右呢！上大学很风光吗？但我记得的是，6 ½年前我是以普普通通的心情踏入大学门口的，3 ½年前又以普普通通的心情跨出大学门口的啊...工作了3年半，好像处境与其他未上大学的朋友无异也，我之前做对了决策吗？

当然我是知道的，智慧或知识是无法以金钱来衡量的，而我所做的每一个决策，是有得也有失的；我也是相信的，不管所做的决策是对是错，只要无怨无悔，并从错误中学习，提升自身的决策力，出头天（成功的一天）应该离我不是很远吧...？！!

在日常生活中，就如林博士所说的，每个人都有谈判的机会（如在菜市场杀价等），因为谈判就是商量。我觉得若用“讨价还价”的话，对我们会比较有亲切感吧？我本身往往在很多场面，是知道有杀价的机会的，但却碍于面子的问题，不喜欢“讨价还价”，正确的说，是不好意思向卖方开价/杀价吧。

曾经几次，我和芬走街时，看到路边有摊子买些本地水果的，如蛇皮果（Buah Salak)、Langsat、红毛丹(Rambutan)之类的。偶尔也会停下脚步，问问价钱。当想买的时候，通常都是芬先开口杀价的（而我则可能会毫无犹疑的就买了哦！嘿~~~）。

不只一次：
摊贩叫价：Buah Salak，RM4.00/KG...！
啊芬还价：RM3.00 boleh?
而我不知怎的，可能是觉得芬叫的价过低或考虑到摊贩的利益吧？未等摊贩出声~~~~
傻佬啊美：Kalau tidak, mungkin RM3.50 kah?
这时，芬就会把我拉到一旁说：很讨厌你，不要说话，静静站一边...@#@#！不用说了，你也会理解芬跟我说了些什么的！

所以说，要讨价还价，就要有勇气（偶尔脸皮要厚一点、嘴巴也要甜一些，最重要还是一定要开口，不然立刻失去了那50％的可能...）、态度要对（不可什么都随随便便、不计较...）、也要理智点（过渡感性或冲动带来的多数是吃亏，因为这就是冲动，最后的惩罚...!)。

还有要记住：谈判得来的每一分钱，都是净利润！

《蓝海人生》 ENJOY COMPETITION

概述
《蓝海人生》由作者刘振洪篇著，与《蓝海策略》不同的是，可以这样说，后者的对象为商业与企业界，牵涉的是整个企业经营组织/系统，如何在同行里以策略创新避开红海，创造蓝海；而前者的对象则较大众化，适合所有阶层/领域的读者（每一位读者）做为参考与借鉴！

书中提到了开创个人「蓝海人生」的竞争6力，即：
1. 洞察力
透视全市场的煞势与前景，与其等待机会，不如创造机会，并适时抓住身边的机遇；也得透视个人的优缺点，取长补短，尽可能发挥自己的竞争尤势。

思维的创新比任何其他如品牌、学术、技术、科技等的创新更具竞争尤势，但得先突破常规与习惯性的思维瓶颈。逆向/反脑思维往往会带来别开生面的创新！

不错的一本书，虽然在POPULAR BOOKSTORE只花了RM12就买到了！起初还在犹疑，一来人们常说便宜没好货嘛，二来手上的《蓝海策略》还未读，怕两本书的内容类似，那就不划了，还好...

个人认为，以上的6竞争力，是要让它们有互动、互相配合与支配，才能发挥作用以创造「蓝海人生」。如谋略力和外借力，需沟通力去强化；身边再多贵人，若不懂得交际，也无法得到他们的赏识、尊敬与信任，想要向他人借智借力就更免谈了！而创新力和应变力则需洞察力的支配；有效的透视、了解、察觉、并对身边每个事物和领域的变迁保持敏感度，以便能来个创新与突破来迎合未知的转变和需求（创新力也可制造转变和需求），并为可能出现的逆境先做好应变的措施...等等！当然，这只是其中6竞争力间的互动互补关系罢了！

有了以上6竞争力，就能成功创业、创造「蓝海人生」吗？我个人认为应该还不够,没那么简单，还差了个”行动力”吧？因为不管您是否拥有了6竞争力的尤势，还是您的理想/目标有多明确实际，不设法、没勇气踏出第一步将之执行的话，是不可能会有结果的。但很多时候我们就是已万事俱备了，只差那么一个行动，而功亏一笺！或许我们怕风险、怕失败、没信心吧？又或者我们不知何时才是行动的时候吧，所以一直等待时机？结果一等再等、一拖再拖，最后慢慢淡忘了，就只剩下那么一个美好的幻想罢了！我很清楚，因为我也是个爱拖延、爱找借口的人...说不好听点，是懒散吧？嘻~嘻~

之前读了一本书，《经营魔戒》有提到，有了明确实际的目标，行动的时机也很重要，但不需等到有了100％的把握和信心时才执行，因为我们永远不会知道何时拥有那100％、何时在最佳状况；所以，只要有70－90％成功机会在望时，就应有所行动了。

《蓝海策略》BLUE OCEAN STRATEGY

概述

本书为金伟灿（W. CHAN KIM）和莫伯尼（Renée Mauborgne）的合著。本书起先为我们讲解了「红海策略」与「蓝海策略」的差别，即前者以竞争为中心，而后者以创新为中心！

在现实情势中，多数企业、经商机构不自觉地陷入了激烈的竞争（这些包括了内在与外在的竞争、市场竞争、资源竞争、科技竞争等），硬碰硬的血腥红海。唯有具竞争尤势的企业能暂时于红海领域领先、胜出和突围！但这将不会是永久性的，竞争尤势将决定某企业的尤衰、胜败和存亡。

于是作者提出了一个全新的观念－「蓝海策略」。「蓝海策略」”摆脱一般传统思维的竞争红海，以“价值创新”为核心（追求高价值、低成本），来开创一个无人竞争的全新市场和创造双赢效应，即提高消费者的效益（高价值）和生产者的获利（低成本）！

《蓝海策略》的内容有点深奥，相信一般不在行的读者将不易理解书中所要表达的概念。但由于作者在陈述四项行动架构的应用与拟定和执行「蓝海策略」的六个原则时，都利用了不少活生生、成功创造蓝海的企业为实例，这包括了太阳马戏团、黄尾袋鼠葡萄酒（Yellow Tails）、汽车行业（Ford）、帅奇表（Swiss Watch, Swatch）、Apple iPod、 曲线公司（Curves）、航空业（NetJets）等，使我的理解能力大大的提升，让我更能掌握「蓝海策略」的基本概念与效应！《蓝海策略》为企业经商管理界（经理、主管等）与商学院学生提供了很有价值的参考和指南!

培养阅读的嗜好, 改变阅读的习惯

阅读是一种值得去培养的好习惯，因为在各个领域都不断在研发、进步，变新的时代，想要不落伍，我们不得不随时随地的充实自己的知识。要得到最新的资讯，除了广播媒体（听 、视觉），阅读就是最佳的资讯来源！

然而，不是每个人都喜欢阅读；就算有阅读的嗜好，也不意味着就能握最新资讯， 因为选错了阅读的材料和类别 （如爱情小说、娱乐新闻、漫画...)。

我也是个不大爱阅读，或选错阅读材料的人！一向来我较常阅读武侠小说、恐怖书籍、侦探小说等，是属于较没建设性的读物。在朋友兼同事(Mr Andy)的影响下，我改变了我的阅读习惯，开始看些对日常生活与职业上有帮助的书籍，如：理财、经营、管理、经济、投资，激励等书籍。

刚开始时当然会觉得无法适从、沉闷、无取和难以消化！习惯之后，则越读越上瘾，就像看漫画一样。不久不久就去逛书店（Popular Book Store) 一趟, 看看有没有适合自己口味的新书。

要培养阅读的嗜好，或改变阅读的习惯，其实也不难，我是这样做的：
1) 先尝试内容深入浅出，较易理解的书籍，最好有一小段故事/ 寓言来带出一个道理、智慧，和思维等。习惯后就来本内容较深奥的书籍。
2) 阅读时间由短 （如每天15分钟）到长（适可而止啦！），又或阅读章数由短 （如每天一个章节）到长（适可而止哦！）

阅读的重点不在于你读完几本书，内容理解的多与少，而在于如何将所读、所学、所懂，和所掌握的知识、道理、和资讯在日常生活和事业上加以运用实践！唔，这也是我还在努力学习着的一门大学问！

KLCC Book Festival 2007

The huge Book Festival was held in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC). I had bought 2 entrance tickets earlier at Popular Book Store in Miri, it was RM2 per ticket.
10:30AM, 1 June (Fri), with the assist of my friend cum colleague, Mr Andy in KL, he fetch me and GF from Tune Hotel, Medan Tuanku to the Book Exhibition Hall (KLCC),with his silver colored VIOS. We only have time to look at the China Section, it really plenty of Chinese books of different categories at reasonable and compatible price. Of course we only search the books of Business, Management, financial, Motivation categories. Finally, all together 10 books (as listed below) bought! You won believe, it only cost me RM216.70. Very cheap and worth, right?
