A Must Do b4 Holiday

Haizz...again, time flies......Err......may be not, time flashes instead? Do you realize that time passes by in a blink of eyes? It seem like "Yesterday" we just celebrated the April's Fool Day (1/4), "Today" we celebrate Labour Day (1/5), and "Tomorrow" we will celebrate Dayak Festival (1/6)!

A reminder & great promotion: please submit your e-Filling lastest by today, you will gain some benefits in return for the taxes paid......government will give you 1 day of holiday on the next day (1/5) and 2 days of off-day subsequently as a rebate (pls: only for selected candidates). ^ ^

Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow

Hey, qualified tax payers, have you all submitted the BE2008 form to LHDN? Willing or not willing, you have no choice. You still need to submit it not latest by today (30/4) to avoid the receive of lawyer letter from LHDN, as it is a must & compulsory.

Paying tax is not a bad thing, at least it shows that you have significantly above-average salary & extremely attractive remuneration per annum from the current career. If you really don't like to pay tax, then you should learn to be smarter in creating the tax deductible expenses to lower down the overall taxable income, i.e buying books (magazines), PC or sport equipments which may benefit yourself, or doing charity donations which can benefit the others.

Last but not least, I take this opportunity to wishing you have a happy & breathtaking Labour Day & weekends...cheers!!!

Well, this not only showed that they are alert to the changes surrounding them, also showed that they are concern about me! I am touched & be cheer up.....!!!

Orchard Street

Orchard is the shopping paradise in Singapore, lots of shopping centers are found along the Orchard Road, for the examples: the Ngee Ann City, CenterPoint, Paragon and etc. Ok, it is impossible for us to visit all the shopping centers, so what we can do is just sightseeing around, look at the shopping centers & other buildings' architectural designs.

One of the shopping malls @ Orchard, Takashimaya (attached to Ngee Ann City)

From Orchard, we walked, walked & walked until we reached the Dhoby Ghaut. It was already around the noon time, we were not hungry anyway......we hanging around & photography at Istana Park before we took a bus to Bugis......

Bugis Street

Bugis Street, is another shopping paradise in Singapore, where one can experienced 2 different kinds of shopping mood or feeling at one time and at 1 location. One can either shopping in the modern air-conditional shopping malls (e.g Bugis Junction & Bugis Square) which located at original Bugis Street, ............

............or shopping at a maze of lanes lined with stalls that selling the "pasar malam" goods (like the Petaling Street in KL) which is located at new Bugis Street (the largest street-shopping location in Singapore). Well, the things sold here are cheap compared to other places in Singapore, just like the "pasar lelong"......:)

Street-shopping @ new Bugis Street (like Petaling Street in KL)

Bugis Street

The Guan Yin Temple (观音堂) at Bugis, believed is the oldest & the most lively temple in Singapore, is often crowded with devotees, prayers or tourists most the time. Hence there are lots of shoplots along the street towards the temple which selling the Buddhist products.

There is a big gold Buddha statue stands on the street towards the temple too. Peoples who pass by sure will put their hand on and touching the Buddha statue, with the hope it will bring us both the wisdom, health, wealth & luck......

Day 3 In Singapore

Sentosa is Singapore's biggest cluster of attractions, which they claimed that is "8 in 1", meant 8 attractions within 1 location...you can get there either by taking a LRT from Vivo City to Imbiah Station (nearby the Merlion), or by a Sentosa bus from HarbourFront Bus Interchange to Beach Station (nearby Siloso Beach), or by cable car from HabourFront Tower to Sentosa Cable Car Station...

If you want to have more fun & excitement, then you should take the cable car ride to Sentosa...of course it is not as long as the one at Genting Highland (1.3KM vs 3.38KM) which is the fastest in the world & longest in Southeast Asia. Between, nothing to see beneath to the cable car at the moment, as the Singapore's 2nd casino by Uncle Lim, the Universal Studios Theme Park will only accomplished in mid-2010.

Imbiah Lookout @ Sentosa

The Underwater World, an oceanarium which home more than 2,500 fishes of 250 different species is a must visit at Sentosa. It is devided into 3 levels: 1st Level, Mid Foyer & Tunnel Level. There is a "Touch Pool" at the entrance by which the visitors can touch & feel the marine life like starfish, stingrays & etc and an exhibition room for the living fossils like Chambered Nautilus, arapaima fishes, sea eels & etc at the 1st Level.

Underwater World

Sea Eels & unknown species...1/2 seahorse + 1/2 fish look

The Mid Foyer level is also known as World of the Crab, as different species of crabs e.g the giant Japanese spider crabs, coconut crabs, hermit crabs, rainbow crabs & so on are exhibited here. Also the seadragons, a living creature which look alike the seahorse and the Loch Ness monster...^^

Sea Eels @ UnderWater World

Hermit Crab, Chambered Nautilus, Coconut Crab, Octopus & Cuttlefish

Then you will venture into the 83 metres long acrylic tunnel at Tunnel Level. The sharks, stingrays & the schools of fishes are swimming & moving all around you...the white dugong or sea-cow (the legend Mermaid) is here with us too. And the last but not least, you can dive with the blue whale, the largest living creature on the earth at Underwater World...( Siao meh? don't expect too much lah.....just kidding lah ^ ^ )

fish species, Dugong (mermaid), seadragon & Spider Crab

The Cine-Blast, is the Singapore's only cinema ride, a place for you to experience the 3D-show. You can have the Extreme Log Ride at S$18.00/adult, this adventural ride brings you rush along a rapid with floating tree trunks, gush through the caves & rush down the ravines......hey, for those who scared of taking a roller coaster ride, may be you can try this 1st?

enjoy 3D ride @ CineBlast

Dolphin Lagoon is another attraction at Sentosa, where visitors can watch the high-intelligent dolphins perform their natural behaviours, i.e hopping to the water surface, tail-walking, tail-flapping & etc...some visitors are given chance to have a close touch to the dolphin, such as feeding them & photography with them. Overall, the show is just so so lah......not much excitement! After the show, you can hanging around at Tanjong Beach, which just next to Dolphin Lagoon!

arrived Dolphin Lagoon for Dolphin Show

Siloso Beach is just opposite the Underwater World. Are you ready to get wet in the sea water? If yes, then don't forget to bring along your swimsuit, towel & etc. You may have the sunbath and play the beach volley-ball under the hot sun, on the sandy beach too......of course if you don't mind, you can just act like a nasty monkey, climbing the coconut trees at Siloso Beach!

Siloso Beach @ Sentosa

The Merlion is nearby the Imbiah LRT Station, located at Imbiah Lookout, Sentosa...is the largest & tallest Singapore's icon (37 metres high). It is not just a giant sculpture, but a viewing tower, where you can view the landscape around the Sentosa Island...Err...don't waste money ler, unless the construction base of Sentosa Casino is in your must-see list lah...^ ^

arrived The Merlion @ Sentosa

The Merlion, 37-metres high Sculpture

The tallest Singapore's icon, The Merlion closeup

The Tiger Sky Tower, the Singapore's tallest viewing tower, which is 110-metres high! Well, we never wish to reach to the top the tower, just simply because of:
1. It is not FOC
2. You should know, us Sarawakians are living on the big tall trees, so we are bored & hate enough to crimb up & down ler...haha

Tiger Sky Tower @ Imbiah Lookout, Sentosa

We also never manage to enter the Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom, as we can see the butterfly every where, e.g in the garden at the house yard...all butterfly species look the same I guess, the only different should be their size & the colour combination on their wings.

I am a "anak kampung" (village boy), whist I still a small kid, I lived in an old zinc house which surrounded by the thick jungle...since that time I have chance to see different kind of insects...so I am in the position to decide to skip the Insect Kingdom @ Sentosa.

Butterfly Park & Insect Kingdom

Singapore China Town (牛车水)

After the one-day trip at Sentosa Island, we visited the China Town (牛车水) at the night time. It seem like most of the countries must have at least one town or street called China Town or Chinese Street. It is where the Chinese population assemble & residence in, operate their traditional-styled business, and also where the Chinese art, culture & tradition spreads to every corner around the world.

Day 2 In Singapore

Day 2 in Singapore, we visited Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo & Night Safari (Package: S$45.00) with Gary as our tour guide. We met at Boon Lay MRT Station and had our breakfast in Ya Kun Kaya Toast, a No 1 famous "KopiTiam" in Singapore since 1944, with a slogan "One Size One Coffee Since 1944".

Ya Kun Kaya Toast (亚坤咖椰烤面包)

The popular Kaya Toast Set A with 2 half-cooked eggs

After the breakfast, we took bus No 251 at Boon Lay Bus Interchange to the Jurong Bird Park. It is an open-concept park, which they claimed that is the largest in the Asia Pacific & the best in the world, with more than 8,000 birds from 600 species which is among the largest in the world...you will never know whether the statement is true or not, unless you have visited all the bird parks around the world.

arriving the Jurong Bird Park, the World of Living Colours!

black swan & Mandarin ducks @ Swan Lake

Humboldt penguins & King penguins @ Penguin Expedition

Please make sure you plan the trip to bird park properly, you need at least 1/2 day time, so that you won't be too rushing & miss out any attractions in the park. Among the attractions are: Parrot Paradise, Swan Lake, Penguin Expedition, Flamingo Lake, Pelican Cove, African Wetland, World of Darkness, Window of Paradise, African Waterfall Aviary, Birds & Buddies Show...etc
Couple of Brown Pelican & Great White Pelican @ Pelican Cove

Shoebill & Wood Storks @ African Wetland

African Crown Crane & Saddle-Billed Storks @ African Wetland

King fishers & hornbill @ Southeast Asian Birds Aviary

Scarlet Ibises

Birds & Buddies Show @ Pools Amphitheatre

We lunched in Botak Jones, one of their western foods stall at Clementi's KopiTiam after finish visited the bird park. Gary recommended us his favorite "The Botak Burger", a king-size burger; anyway we didn't go for that stuff, instead we ordered 1 set of Fish & Chips @ S$7.00, 1 set of Black Pepper Chicken @ S$8.00 & 2 sets of Cajun Chicken @ S$8.00 each......Well, big size serving which definitely matched to their nice slogan "Damn Good Food @ Damn Good Price"!

Singapore Zoo's entrance

Singapore Zoo, like the Jurong Bird Park is a model of "open-zoo" concept, whereby the animals are kept in wide & landscaped enclosures, separated from the visitors by dry or wet moats. However for those animals i.e leopards or jaguars which is good in climbing are kept in landscaped grass-fronted enclosures.

Kangaroo & Emu

What's Up...wanna fighting?

The time is just too rush for us, we spent too much time on the bird park earlier. Now we only have less than 3 hours to visit all the attractions in the zoo. We are quite dissappointed, we didn't see the animals like giraffes, tigers, leopards & lions when we reached the particular enclosures! (we reached there nearly at 6p.m, which is zoo closing time) Where are they gone? We just wondering if the zoo keepers have shifted these animals to the Night Safari for visit at night?

The worst is, we failed to see the polar bear too,
when we reached the enclosure, a cleaner is washing the glass of the aquarium......haizzz.......T_T

Elephants & deer

Baboons & wild goat

Proboscis monkey & Chimpanzees

Zebras

The Night Safari is just next to the Singapore Zoo, is the world's first wildlife park built for visits at night. Please be sure you are there in time, so you won't miss the animal show at 7:30P.M. After the show, you can explore the park either by walk on foots or by train ride (S$5.oo/adult). Well, walking in the park just like walking in the forest in the darkness, hence you may hardly see the animals, especially if they are far from our eye-sights or hidden behind the bushes.
