Just Can't Withstand Temptation of Buying Books

Another book exhibition in Miri, this time is held in E-mart Complex, by a book store from KL, named A.S. Books Centre (民族文化书坊). Of course I'll never miss any book exhibition & can never withstand temptation of buying books because of other than online resources, books are my another main source of knowledges & learning tool. As what Willson Lim (Mentor of Money & You) said "If You Stop Learning, You Will Become An Illiterate of Modern Time" (若你停止学习,将会成为现代文盲)! So it is important to keep learning all the time to have some upgrade on our knowledges, thinking, mindset & etc in all fields.
a
3 books bought that day, err...actually is 2 books since it was buy 2 free 1... :)
a
The chinese version of "The Secret" - 《秘密》by Rhonda Bryne (朗达.拜恩).

藏在故事后面的心灵 - 刘墉a

更爱明天的自己- 吴若权 (FOC)
a

I wonder why whenever there is a book exhibition by any of the book stores, normally most of the books displayed are the pirated books. Of course the 3 books I bought also the pirated one. Even though I knew that as a good consumer, buying a pirated book or other pirated stuffs like CD, VCD & etc is not a good practice, but I just can't resist to not do so, as it is too cheap compared to the original one. E.g the pirated book - "The Secret" was sold at RM15 only, while the original one is at RM79.90 (English version) & RM37.50 (Chinese version).

Although the printing quaility of the pirated books may not as nice or presentative as the original one, but as a reader, what we wanted is just the contents or knowledges hiden in the books, not the printing quality, somemore the money saved can be spent to buy more books knowledges (or other stuffs), then why not? So please don't blame on buying the pirated books.

Horton ~ Hears A Who?

"Horton ~ Hears A Who?" is a CGI Animated movie, it was the latest movie I watched in the cinema last week. Horton is an elephant who hears a cry of help from a speck of dust. So he has managed to help & protect the "Who", who he believes is a very very small & tiny community living on the dust.

No one believe Horton's saying, especially his neighhour, the Mrs Kangaroo claimed that Horton's nonsense is trying to poisoning the mind & thinking of the small childs. So she calls a group of monkeys & the vulture to destroy the dust & purnish the Horton............Of course at the end, Horton success to prove them the existance of the "Who" on the dust.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Words:
In the movie, the Mrs Kangaroo has made a statement sound like "A Thing Is Not Exist If We Can't See, Can't Hear, or Can't Even Touch It"! How true is it? Are you going to agree or disagree with her? I believe most of you will be so offensive to such thinking & perception. Wonder why?
Then should ask your self a very simple question - "Do you believe in GOD"? Hmm, I guess most of you do, right? Can you see, hear or touch the GOD? Of course you don't! So does the GOD exist? Honestly I have no idea, and I'll never try to simply answer either "Yes" or "No", although my answer is more to the "Yes"; It would be a tough question for you to answer if you are a "Free Thinker" like me (Err...actually Im more to the Buddhist side...)!
Another interesting question is - "Do you believe in Ghost"? Many people told that they have saw the ghost; some even claimed that they have heard the ghost talking, screaming, groaning or crying. So what do you think? Will you believe it? Or you just assumed that it is not exist because of you never encounter it before? Ya, some people tend to be like this, they will never believe in certain things, unless they have experienced it by their own. Just like we sometime feel so hard to take the advices from those who elder or experienced than us & caused in so much regretful in the coming days!
By the way, the 2 examples above seem to be too abstract to most of us & hard for us to have an imagination on their real figure. So why not we try to have a "solid" example which we can see, hear & touching on. Wright brothers (Orville Wright & Wilbur Wright) were the inventors of the airplane. I guess when Wright brothers made the statement that one day human can fly on the sky, most people won't belief it & may thought that Wright brother were mad & like to day dreaming. Some more people have said that “If God had intended for human beings to fly, He would have given us wings.” in the past. If Wright brothers have believed & surrendered to this statement, then we will never have the airbus today.
Poster grabbed from www.allposters.com
It can be say that most of things we saw, we heard, & we had today aren't available in the past, these are the great jobs of the human being. Day dreaming some time can be a good practice, if some one can adopt & combine the idea(s) from the "day dreaming" with the creative & innovative thinking, to turn what we don't see, we don't hear, and we don't feel into a product or service that we can see, can hear & can feel. We must dare to dream & dare to action, never rely on the ordinary rules & laws, so we can make a different & change in the future!
Oop, Un-affordable Body Weight!
Obesity is a health issue which has long alerted the alarm of health nationwide, due to lack of the physical exercise, imbalance diet, genetic problem & etc. Malaysia as a new developed country also having this health problem, especially now-a-day the so called fast foods (e.g Mc Donald, KFC, Sugarbun...etc) have become the food celebrities among the small childs, teenages, youth, even adults & the eldery. That why recently the MOH (Ministry of Health) has tries to ban all kinds of fast foods' advertisments to be published in the newspapers or on the local TV channels.
a
a
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a
a
My Words:
a
How far is your health conscious on the seriousness of obesity? As I know majority of the female are quite very concern with their body weight & body shape. During my university, us guys not hard to hear the complains from the girls, claimed that they were fat, they were overweight & wanna on diet programme to keep body slim & so on. Well, I won't deny that some of them were really looked abit fat & plump, but many of them for us guys were actually quite good looking & slim. Then why should them still make noise? Are they over health conscious?
a
Is it any possibility that they girls don't have the right definition on the word "SLIM"? They may not even know how to diferentiate the physical look of "THIN", "SLIM" & "FAT" as well? Honestly, I have no idea how to diferentiate the body shape too, especially between thin & slim. Any suggestive figure or measurement can help in the differentiation?
a
Just because of we don't know how slim is considered as slim, so many of us may undergoing an endless & un-worthwhile keep fit & diet programmes......However, if you only eat less but with balance daily diet and having a regular exercise as part of the "keep slim" programme, it is still fine, it won't harm your health and at least one thing for sure, you have changed your life style to the healthier one.
a
Instead of chasing for the dreamed slim body shape, would advice just to monitor & maintain your body weight BMI (Body Mass Index) within the normal limit. What is the point that you are slim but you are actually underweight or unhealthy? You may say that body shape (external look) is important to create a self confident in approach to the public & social life; then how can you explain that some plump guys like kennysia ( haha...he will never know Im gossiping him as he will never come to my blog...:p ) can be so confident in his social life & became a blogger celebrity? ------------------------ [MOH-BMI Calculator]

Tough Front Line Services

If you are in the front line services, then you must know how tough is it to entertain a customer who is so stubborn and like to make a fuss about nonthing. You have to be so patience & with a sweat smiling face although you are not in mood just because of the words of wisdom "Customer is always right" & "Customer is the King"!
a
Listed below are some of the cases I have encountered oftenly which is so incomprehensible & make me felt so frustrated:~
a
1. Insist for a discount
I feel unhappy if customer(s) keep asking me for a discount, especially after a long explaination on why no discount offered (of course we do offer discount in certain cases, even though customer not asking for it), but they still insist to have it! Some even claimed that they are "regular customer" so must have such special treat as a return, but the fact is when check into the computer system, found that (s)he has just visited us for one time only with a blood test cost 2 digits in the past.
a
2. Tend to skirt around the subject
Some customers seem are health conscious, ask questions from A to Z, and shown their interest in having a full screening tests...but later come out with an excuse like "Oop, Im not fasted!" or "Oh shit, not enough money lah!", then say "you just do the HIV screening for me 1st lah....". WTH...So hard for you to tell your intention directly? Waste my time to listen & explain, somemore is during busy hours.
a
3. So ignorance
Has been reminded few times to bring along with the blood test receipt whenever come to collect the blood test report. Un-fortunately they never listen into their ears or what we chinese called "right ear in, left ear out?"! Okie, doesn't matter, at least they have bring their I/C...but so sad to hear "Sorry, I forget to bring my I/C!" or "Sorry, I don't bring my I/C". Is alright, they might able to tell me the I/C no...who know "Err...can't remember my I/C no lah!"......What the age now? Still go everywhere without an I/C? Then what the I/C is for? Would suggest to frame it up & display in the guest (bed) room?
a
4. So annoyance
Some customers knew that his (her) house-maid's 2 years work permits will expired very soon, e.g 25 March 08. They never want to renew it earlier until the date 25/3 falls, then they now willing to rush here & there to do the Foreign Worker Examination, and hope that we can provide (s)he an instant report...but sorry to inform, the fastest only can be ready by next day evening (e.g 2:30 P.M). So they have been told the time report be ready. Who know the next day morning just 10:30A.M they have called in ask for the report, and later one call every 1/2 to 1 hour. Can you imagine, each call we tell them over & over that the report be out at around 2:30P.M, but why they just seem like a deaf still keep calling non-stop?
a
5. So Nonsense
Amei79: Can I help you?
Nonsense: How much is your full screening?
Amei79: RM120 for 45 tests.
Nonsense: Why so expensive? "this" lab & "that" lab only RM80...
Amei79: May be different test contents or they having promotion....blah blah blah
Nonsense: No No No, exactly the same package, is normal rate, I go there many times before...
Amei79: Here is RM100. So would you like to proceed or do it in other labs?
Nonsense: Just do it here lah...what to do since Im already here & fasted!
(Pls: if the "this" or "that" lab just 5 minutes walk from my office, what would be your best
decision?)
a
Anyway, I learnt a lot from the front line services, especially the communication & socialization skills, which being an important & powerful tool build up the relationship & networking in order for us to step forward to the gate of success.

Rahman Prediction - Malaysia Prime Ministers

Have you ever hear the so called "Rahman Prediction" before? Well is the first time I heard about this prediction from my colleague, Beatrix whilst we are discussed on the result of the latest Malaysia 2008 Election. She said that she knew this since studied in Secondary School (SPM) from a teacher.
a
I have made a table to show you what is the "Rahman Prediction" actually about? According the "Rahman Prediction", our Malaysia Prime Minister candidates will have a name begin with the alphabet R.A.H.M.A.N (please refer to the table below for better understanding):
a
a
Can you see it? Between, during Tun Mahathir Mohamad being our PM, Anwar Ibrahim who was our x-Deputy PM also having an "A" as the first alphabet in his name! But later he was found to involved in the sexual scandal & caught into the jail, and Adullah Badawi who is our recent PM is rised up to be our Deputy PM.
a
Then after Pak Lah, who will be our next PM? As we all know, Najib Abdul Razak is our recent Deputy PM, and just right he have the "N" as the first alphabet in his name! Amazing enough,right? So do you think the "Rahman Prediction" will bring us another miracle & make it come true in the future, by which Najib Addul Razak (or somebody else with first alphabet "N" in his name) will become our 6th PM?
a
If so, after our 6th PM, will the "Rahman Prediction" continue play the role to determine who is our future PM by start over again with R.A.H.M.A.N? Or there be another prediction exist? Or is it possible that after the 6th PM, we may have a first non-Malay PM?

Good or Bad? What Do You Think?

Malaysia 2008 Election has just been carried up yesterday (8 Aug 08), it has became a hot & interesting issue which us Malaysians (perhaps the foreign countries as well) really care of. As the election results will determine the fate & the movement of the Malaysia in the coming next 5 years.
a
Im sure you know better than me on the latest 2008 Election results, as you might be one of the bloggers who blog about this issue very closely & professionally. Don't you? Below is part of the news grabbed from sinchew-i.com for your reading pleasure: -

國陣失檳雪霹吉政權‧國會三分二優勢不保
a
a
截至凌晨2時,國陣已贏得125個國席,再度執政;而反對黨總共贏得了78席,否決了國陣的三分之二多數議席;還有19個國席的成績尚未公佈。
a
a

My Words:
a
Breathtaking news, BN has lost its political powers in 4 states: Penang, Kedah, Selangor & Perak, while failed to grab the political power from the PAS in Kelantan. This meant that in the next 5 years the opposition parties will be in power to rule in the 5 states by establish a new state government in each state very soon. But Im wondering, why should DAP, PKR or PAS still known as a opposition party? Is it just because of the political powers of the Malaysia are still majority under BN?
a
Although the opposition parties had a flying colour election results in West Malaysia, they DON'T in Borneo Island (Sabah & Sarawak)! ~Sigh~ In my state (Sarawak), the lawyer Chong Chieng Jen (张健仁) is the only DAP parliament member of Kuching Town who able to stand firm & won in 2008 Election. DAP had conducted a "10,000 People Assembly" in Chong Lin Park, Kuching a night before the 8.3.08, and the next day evening he managed beat his competitor the lawyer Alan Sim (沈耀荣) with the majority votes of almost 10,000 votes (actual votes: 9,952).....AMAZING enough!!!

So, what do you think? What is your first thought & reaction when you get known the above news? Well, is a good or is a bad, Im not in the position to further comment on this topic as Im not really familiar with the political issues. For me, please just let them have an opportunity & a try, and let the "time" be our most honest witness to prove & tell us the outcome in future!

Doctor, Are You Serious?

What will you do if doctor tell you that you have the diabetes?
Shocked?
Nothing to do & just accept the reality & fact?
Don't belief & try to argue with the doctor?
Visit other doctor for second opinion?
..................etc?
a
I have heard lots of bad feedbacks & complaints made by the customers to the doctor(s) they visited since I’m working in the medical lab for 4 years. Anyway, it may not a complaint as I said; it may be more alike a suspicious to the doctors’ professional or it may be just a misunderstanding?
a
The scenario almost the same: Patient (customer) has done a blood test in a clinic. After consulted with the doctor, (s)he is shocked & worried, as doctor told that (s)he had the diabetes & medicine prescription is needed. Well, some patients might just simply accept & follow whatever being told or advised by the doctor, but some seem so hard to belief it & manage to find out the real story. Finally they came to the lab & of course I’m the one who entertained them. After listened to their stories on the “What”, the “How” & the “Why”, I started to play my role to remove the “?” from their queries! ( So funny & weird, how come they not trust the doctor but trust me more? :p )
a
I also wondered why (how) some doctors are so expert & can simply diagnose a patient has the diabetes with just single blood or urine testing. Or without further investigation on the symptoms, family history & etc the patient might have?
a
None of the diseases can be diagnosed with only single testing (as none of the testing are 100% accurate! If there is any clinic or lab tells hat they can provide you a 100% accurate blood test results, then they are bullshit!) ; it must at least twice, or perhaps more are required. A patient tested with high blood glucose / sugar (or glucose content in the urine) at the very first time not mean that (s)he must has the diabetes. It may be due to other reasons, like patient just had the meal or not fasted over a required fasting period (10 to 12 hours before the blood testing) or sometime other underlying biological factor(s) may play a role too. Likewise, a diabetes patient can tested with normal blood glucose as well, if they are over fasted or is under effective medication control. So how a doctor can tell if a patient has the diabetes with single blood or urine test & without any further investigation?
a
Firstly, may be the doctor is still new with no experience or perhaps (s)he doesn’t know the truth behind the lab test findings! Anyway this is not a good excuse; if the so called “new doctor” has no idea on the right diagnostic procedure for the diabetes (as one of the most common disorders human being had), then what more we can expect from them? Secondly, doctor gives the patient wrong piece of information intentionally, with the hope to boost the drug / medicine selling (profits) high up? If this happen, I think the “Beast” or “Bitch” would be the best word to describes such an un-ethical doctor. Thirdly, may be patient him (her) self misunderstood the doctor’s message, especially if you don’t know how to differentiate the high blood glucose & diabetes.

For those people who may experience this before or after, the thing you must do is to ask doctor do another blood test for you, or ask doctor to do the OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test) to confirm the diabetes status. Of course now-a-day, there is another test that you may interest to get it done---HbA1c (Glycosylated hemoglobin). HbA1c may able to monitor & tell your blood glucose level in the last 2 to 3 months, although it actually is used to monitor how well a patient is under a medication control.
a
With the HbA1c, you never can cheat to your doctor if you are a diabetes patient who never obeys to the advice & instruction in diabetes control plan; even if you have tried to over fasted (with or without strenuous exercise) or take the medicine only a very short period from the date of the blood testing, the HbA1c test will still shows an abnormal result (poor control).

My Saturday Night with "The Mist"

I like watching movie very much, especially those action, horror & comedy movies (love movies occasional lah), I'll never miss it. Of course, it is impossible to watch all the movies in the cinema, so only sellected & worthy movies to watch in the cinema, the rest to play with pirated VCD or DVD.
a
Last night I just went to have a movie "The Mist" 《迷雾惊魂》in Star Cineplex with Fern. "The Mist", a movie directed by Frank Darabont, mainly star by Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden & Alexa Davalos. Although there is nothing special or new in the story line, it is a nice movie & worth to have a watch in the cinema. After finished the movie, my feeling was messy & complicated, as the feeling of happy & upset come at the same time. Why?
a
Movie Poster of "The Mist"
a
I like & happy with its ending, as it is much different from other movies which with the same category or story line; the ending was out of my expectation. I thought the Thomas Jane & others will finally find a solution to solve & terminate the problem rised, but he isn't......!
a
A scene in "The Mist" (grab from dreadcentral.com)
a
At the same time, I really dislike the ending, it was a sad ending. While Thomas Jane with other 4 persons (include his son) are trying to get assistance from the outside in a vehicle in the mist with hidden dangerous, the mission failed as the vehicle is running out of the fuel. When they were dismay & thought that there is no way out, they decided to end up 5 lifes with 4 shoots............(to know the whole story, please watch the movie )............Thomas Jane remain alive & he just found that the "Mist" is just over with the rescue from the army teams.......!
a
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
a
My Words:
The moral of the story I learnt from "The Mist" is that, no matter how never surrender under any circumstance or to any one easily. As been taught by most celebrities --- "All the troubles rised must at least with a reason & a solution to fixed".
a
Never ever give up! (Have you see this picture before?)
a
The most simple reason that we mustn't give up --- we don't know when the un-desirable will turn into desirable; we will never know how far is the hope or success apart from us...it might be still far apart, very soon, or almost happen. If it is almost happen, but you just so impatience & can't wait & have just gave up, than it would be end up with a sadness & regrettable consequence.
Will You Need A House-Maid?
First of all, before I start this topic, I would like to emphasis that whenever I mention the word "House-Maid" or "Maid" in this entry, it would mainly refer to those foreigners who derived from the neighbouring countries. ( I assume that you know better than me, so not going to reveal the countries names here for certain reasons! )
a
Now-a-day most of the big & rich families (even the small & families) like to employ House-Maid(s) to lighten the burdens of the so called "Housewife". Of course it might not exactly only lighten the burdens, some are even totally take over the roles of an "Housewife" or perhaps a "Mother" by doing all the nursery tasks, house-works (all types of cleaning & washing), gardening and so on. Perhaps if the house-maids are well educated, they will need to assist the childs in the homeworks revision & learning process as well...!!!
a
If let say your family really need one or more house-maid(s) to do whatever jobs from low to high, light to heavy & inside to outside the house, I have few advices here so you can take note of it to avoid any unnecessary troublesome:~
a
Firstly, never trust the Foreign Worker Agents. Before the foreigners can stay & work in local, they must undergo a medical check-up to prove that they are healthy & not carry any infective diseases. The agent(s) will arrange & do all the necessaries prior sending over the qualified house-maid to you. Well, please bear in mind that the agent(s) can sometime with the help from an un-ethical doctor & lab to have a false medical report. So no matter how, you must bring the maid for 2nd medical check-up (blood test alone will do), of course at different clinic & lab is preferrable ( unfortunately, normally you will never have chance to see the medical report by agents, so you will never know which clinic & lab they used ).
a
Secondly, you may heard about have experienced it before by which the house-maid run away (disappeared) from somebody's your house & never come back again. This might be problem created by the agent intentionally. Then why? Do you know that once the qualified house-maid accepted, you will need to pay the agent a certain amount of agent fee which not less than RM4K and if you "lost" the maid & can never manage to find her back, you will be fined a certain amount which not less than RM1K? If the agent sent you a maid & later "kidnap" her and send to other house, then keep repeating this process, can you imagine how much they can earn from a single maid? So please monitor the maid's behaviour closely.You should strictly prohibit them direct contact with strangers or if possible the agent in the 2 years working permit period.
Note:
1. The condition may vary from one place to another place, so the above only based on the local scenario.
2. Some agents will closely monitor both employer & worker's behaviour, to make sure employer treat the worker nicely & worker performs their tasks ideally.
Thirdly, if you don't know how to respect the maid, or you think that you are superior & they are low class with no dignity. I would advice you not to have any maid at home. As we have heard & witness too many bully (abuse) foreign worker(s) cases, we don't want any of the foreign workers become your next victim! The salary for a maid is only RM250-350/month at my place, and they suppose being paid the full total amount after finished the 2 years working permit, but the sad news is some of them not being paid even a single cent! You see, they are coming to our country with the hope can earn some money to reduce their families' burdens, but end up with empty pocket after 2 years of works. How do they going to face & explain to their families & others when back to the home country?
